Pet Rehabilitation

Improving Life and Happiness

Gold-Standard Rehabilitation Services
Read More We care about your pet and their quality of life. Age, disease, and injury can all affect an animal's quality of life, but with conditioning and rehabilitation, we can keep your pet active for years to come. Our rehab room is located at our sister clinic, Marcy Veterinary Clinic. Our therapy room features underwater and dry treadmill, laser therapy, and other necessary tools to improve your pet's stability and core. A customized plan will be created to fit your pet's needs in reaching a desired goal.

Your Pet’s Therapy Plan

An individualized treatment plan, conditioning levels and therapy sessions are designed around your pet’s specific needs. All therapy plans start with a thorough physical examination by a veterinarian. During an exam, your pet will undergo a variety of important evaluations including a gate analysis, girth measurement, and stance review. Together, we determine the desired result for your companion, whether it be to increase mobility or reach a target weight.

Each therapy session typically lasts between 30–45 minutes depending on your pet’s needs. All pet parents are welcome to stay during the session or pick up their pet when the session is complete.

Common Conditions Benefiting from Therapy

Rehabilitation can help pets recovering from surgery, managing chronic conditions, or working toward improved mobility and fitness.

Post-Surgery and Conditioning

Rehabilitation following surgical procedures helps restore strength, mobility, and confidence during recovery.

Strength and Muscle Building

Targeted exercises build core strength and muscle mass to support joints and improve overall stability.

Neurological Diseases

Therapy can help pets with neurological conditions maintain or improve function and coordination.

Weight Loss

For pets that have become a little more robust around the middle, therapy can assist in weight loss. Generally, pets on a weight loss therapy plan will also have a set diet and at-home exercise regimen.

Injuries and Post Cast Removal

Controlled exercise and therapy help rebuild strength and range of motion after injuries or extended immobilization.

Arthritis

Low-impact therapy can ease arthritis pain, improve joint flexibility, and enhance your pet’s day-to-day comfort.

Avoid the Need for Surgery

Using therapy for your pet can help avoid surgeries with muscle and core strength training. A common problem like an ACL tear, tendon injury or joint issue can be helped with low impact therapy and potentially avoid surgical repair.

Pet Rehab Modalities

Our rehabilitation facility offers specialized equipment and techniques to support your pet’s recovery and conditioning.

Underwater Treadmill

Warm water has great healing benefits such as easing pain and aiding in flexibility, facilitating a better range of motion and deeper stretching. The warmth of the water can also increase blood flow which helps to speed up recovery. Pets enjoy many advantages from underwater treadmills. The buoyant properties of water make it an ideal, low-impact exercise by reducing the weight put on the bones and joints. This allows us to increase a pet’s endurance and strength without adding excess stress. Is your pet afraid of water? No fear, we take time to condition your pet to water therapy to ensure they are comfortable and at ease.

Laser Therapy

Cold laser therapy is a noninvasive, low dose therapeutic laser, safe for both cats and dogs. Laser therapy can be used to manage and treat several types of ailments and injuries. Cold laser therapy works by increasing cellular function, increasing absorption of nutrients, and helping to reproduce new cells — speeding up recovery and reducing pain and inflammation from surgery, injury or disease. The reduction of inflammation and increased circulation can also relieve pain associated with arthritis. Laser therapy can be used as a substitute or in conjunction with medication for treating chronic pain, neurological disorders, surgical recovery and more.
